Emergency/Urgent Care:
 |
We provide ER/Urgent care as part of our regular, ongoing services for
needs that arise unexpectedly or for serious life threatening injuries and
illnesses. We offer Emergency care for any "pet" whether it's a bird, a
reptile, pocket pets (hamsters, hedgehogs, guinea pigs), rabbits or ferrets. We
can see emergencies during normal business hours. |
Wellness Care & Routine "general" care:
 |
Wellness Care reflects out philosophy for how we deliver a higher quality of
healthcare. We recommend yearly exams and diagnostics to help us discover
problems in the early stages before they become life threatening, and can be
treated simply, inexpensively and with higher success. The only way to be
able to catch health problems before they begin to show noticeable, serious
symptoms, is to run "basic diagnostics"
(blood panels, urinalysis & heartworm test EOY) routinely to not only
obtain the information necessary to spot problems as they arise, but also to
be able to compare levels taken at different points to identify changes in
normal levels. Keep in mind that 1 year to us equates 7 to your pet - it's
like us having a health exam every 7 years. |
Surgery / Laser:
 |
We offer both conventional (scalpel) and Laser Surgery. Because the Laser
actually does the cutting, it seals off blood supply & nerve endings
reducing bleeding, pain and swelling. Laser is a very beneficial way of
performing all surgical procedures. Whereas de-claws done with traditional
methods include a hospital stay of 1-3 days, come home with bandages, and
may take as long as a week to be able to comfortably walk - with Laser they
can routinely come home the same day, with no bandages and be walking a
couple of hours after surgery. Our Laser is available for all forms of
surgery.
We use full monitoring equipment to measure heart rate, blood
pressure and oxygen content providing added safety for patients and to
assure peace-of-mind for Mom and Dad. |

Consulting Orthopedic Surgeon:
Board Certified

|
Consulting Orthopedic Surgeon
Our consulting
orthopedic surgeon has 35 years of surgical experience. He received his DVM
degree from Purdue University and his Masters in Surgery from Colorado State
University. He is a TPLO certified surgeon. A TPLO (Tibial Plateau
Leveling Osteotomy) is the surgery that repairs a torn ACL (Anterior
Cruciate Ligament) of the knee. This is one of the most common orthopedic
procedures needed by dogs. Our consulting surgeon is experienced in
orthopedic procedures on Knees, Hips, Shoulders, Elbows, Wrists, and Ankles
which include Fractures (simple or multiple), Growth Deformities, and Joint
Fusions (Arthrodeses). Orthopedic consultations and exams are available by
appointment only.

Dentistry with x-ray:
 |
We perform all levels of dentistry from routine check-ups, cleaning,
fluoride treatments, checking pockets, to extractions, root canals and caps.
We include x-rays with all complicated treatments to see tooth root
viability, identify abscesses or any potential problems below the gum line.
All procedures requiring anesthesia are performed with complete monitoring
equipment- with heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen content for added
safety and peace of mind. |
Endoscopy/ rigid & flexible:
 |
Endescopes allow for an alternative to surgery or a less invasive form of
surgery. An endescope is a rigid/flexible tube that has a lighting
element, camera and forceps at the end. With the flexible it allows us to go
down the esophagus into the stomach and intestines to retrieve foreign
objects or take a biopsy. Rigid allows us to go in through small cavities,
or incisions, for biopsies, joint surgery or any procedure that can be
performed simply with forceps. |
Digital Radiology:
 |
We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art digital Radiology. This means
that instead of printing x-rays on large sheets of film, we can view them on
a computer screen, make enhancements, zoom in for greater detail, can e-mail
pictures to other doctors instead of having to make expensive copies and
hand deliver, and we can print out pictures of your pets x-rays to take home
and show the rest of the family, and keep as part of your pets health
records. We don't have to "re-take" x-rays as often due to the fact that we
can make adjustments to lighting, color and have 'zoom in' capabilities-
there is less tendency to expose your pet unnecessarily to radiation, cause
discomfort or fear from repeating procedures and less expense to you. |
Physical Rehabilitation:
 |
We have a physical therapy pool to aid in rehabilitation after surgery, due
to injury or to assist arthritic dogs. Much like a human rehab - it is a
pool, 5 feet deep, water temperature is kept warm, and has jets to produce a
current that the animals swim "against" simulating a river. All animals are
fitted with floatation jackets to ensure they rest easily on the surface
without straining. This exercises the dogs, allows for easy non-stressful
movement and joint movement without impact or added stress of body-weight. |
Avian & Exotic:
 |
We are a small animal, Bird & Exotic Wellness
Center. We see Birds of all kinds, any reptile as well as pocket pets (hamsters, guinea pigs, hedgehogs,
etc), small mammals such as bunny-rabbits, ferrets and pot-belly pigs. We
have two doctors on staff that even treat fish! We will do house calls to
anyone who has a pond with fish that needs diagnosis. Our doctors are even
capable of performing surgery on fish! :) No kidding!
We also handle any
emergency/surgery for Birds, exotics, pocket pets, small mammals of "pets"
of any kind. |

Standards of Care you can Expect
as part of our care for your Companions:
1) Pain is not an option - any procedure that is considered painful for our
patient, we will automatically include pain medication as part of standard
routine treatment to ensure the comfort of your pet. We will not allow anyone to
decline this option. As patient advocates we vow to let no animal suffer or be
in pain unnecessarily.
2) Blood panels are required before any animal
over 7 years of age will be given anesthesia
to ensure there are NO health risks to your Pet.
3) We monitor all animals having procedures performed with blood pressure,
heart rate and oxygen content equipment.
4) IV catheters are placed in animals for most procedures.
5) Dental x-rays are performed as part of dental procedures, especially of a
complex nature, just as they are performed in human medicine.
6) We use diagnostics efficiently and routinely to help make accurate and
thorough diagnosis and enable our Doctors to recommend effective treatments for
all our patients.
